Lutheran Youth of Queensland (LYQ) is the youth department of the Lutheran Church of Australia, Queensland District. 

Our Vision is to see the young people of Queensland ‘Alive in Christ; Passionate in Service’.  We work towards this vision by supporting the Church with resources, training and networking as well as through our state wide camping events.  We exist to support congregations, schools and the wider Church in their ministry to the young people of QLD. 

LYQ is primarily known for our successful camping ministry.  Events such as Christian Life Week, Kid’s Camp, Enthuse and The Gathering have contributed significantly to the spiritual journey of the young people in our Church.  These camps provide the opportunity for young people to explore who God is, make lifelong friends and have the best fun; all within a community of love and support.  The influence of these camps is best illustrated through the comments of the young people themselves:

“I have found that even though I may be challenged in my faith, God will always be there and love me, and help me through.”   

 “It has impacted me because it has let me open up about my problems.” 

“I've learnt how beautiful I am.  I am a princess of God.” 

 “It has changed my life… I have come closer to God and made new friends.” 

Every year we receive countless amounts of similar feedback from young people, their parents and youth workers.  We particularly enjoy seeing the positive transformation that occurs on camp as it flows through the young people into their families and community.

Luther Heights

LYQ also operates Luther Heights Youth Camp at Coolum.  Luther Heights is located on the hill at Point Arkwright and has views of the ocean and Mt Coolum.  It’s a popular camping and conference location for schools, churches and community groups.  To make a booking or to find out more about Luther Heights visit www.lutherheights.org.au.  

Staff

The ministry of LYQ is supported by a dedicated staff team:

• Aaron Glover heads up the team as Director.  His role is to manage the overall ministry and operation of LYQ. 
• Emma Graetz is our Ministry and Program Coordinator.  Emma manages the ‘hands on’ ministry of LYQ and together with Aaron assists schools and congregations to minister to the young people within their community. 
• Helen Mibus is our Business Manager.  Helen’s role is to manage the financial and administrative work of LYQ.
