One of the highlights of Kids Camp is the food. Our team put on some spectacular camp food – its healthy, yummy and there is heaps of it! They’re also experts on special diet needs so everyone is looked after.
Kids Camp has been putting a smile on young faces for two decades! Every year children from all over Queensland (and sometimes even from interstate) travel to the beautiful Coolum Beach for a week of fun and adventure.
“I really loved the food, the beach, I love all of the activities!”
Summer Kids Camp is not only a great start to the year… it’s also a great ‘first’ camp for young campers! Our team take special care at the start of camp to help campers make new friends and feel comfortable on camp. We deliberately follow a regular timetable/routine on camp so that campers can feel comfortable in the new environment, and we make sure we’ve got at least 1 leader for every 4 campers so that every camper gets looked after!
We think that Kids Camp is pretty special but don’t just take our word for it… this is just one of the beautiful notes of thanks we received from a camper’s parent…
“Our girls camp home talking non-stop about the fun they had but also opened their Bibles and [started] looking up Bible verses.”
Keep in mind that if January isn’t the best time of year for a camp, don’t miss out! We also run Winter Kids Camps in the July school holidays!
LYQ Leaders – Volunteer with us!
We have an amazing bunch of leaders who volunteer their time to make sure that every camp is a bundle of fun and a great experience. All of our leaders complete an extensive application and training process prior to being selected.

Director Profiles
Ellena Ericksson
Hi everyone! I’m Ellena, and I’m thrilled to be one of the directors for Summer Kids Camp 2025. My journey with LYQ camps began in 2017, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of leading over five camps. Each experience has deepened my passion for creating a fun and engaging environment for kids.
I am from Brisbane, QLD, and I currently attend Gateway Baptist Church in Mackenzie, where I’m involved in various community activities. In addition to my work with camps, I’ve been with BOUNCE Inc. for almost three years, where I started in a host role and have now progressed into a management position. This has given me valuable skills in leadership and teamwork, which I’m excited to bring to camp.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about all-star cheerleading and compete for both my university and a club. Cheerleading not only challenges me physically but also allows me to express my creativity and teamwork. One of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been coaching young cheerleaders. It brings me immense joy to see them reach new milestones and build lifelong friendships along the way.
I can’t wait to connect with all of you at camp and create unforgettable memories together!
Max Mayer
My name is Max and I work as a reporter for a country newspaper on the Darling Downs.
I love cricket, choral music, and asking questions.
Fun fact - my town, Oakey, is frequently the coldest in Queensland, so I'm very glad we have heaters in our church!
Looking forward to meeting you on camp!

Family Discount – Mark Grieshaber Legacy Fund
Available to siblings living in the same household for events in the same Holiday Season (Winter, Spring, or Summer Seasons)| $60 per camper | Apply during registration
In 2018 we were blessed to receive a generous bequest from Mark Grieshaber. Mark (Greezy) Grieshaber was an active part of the Lutheran Youth of Queensland community for over three decades until his death in late 2017. Mark involvement started as a participant at our events but mostly he was involved as a volunteer leader for our holiday camps, particularly serving as our camp bus driver. Mark’s passion to support young people meant he often attended multiple events every year and although Mark’s involvement goes beyond our archived records, we know he attended more than 130 different events! Those of us who were blessed to serve alongside Mark will remember his selfless leadership and care for others, and his passionate worship singing!
In consultation with Mark’s family, we’re thrilled to be able to use Mark’s generous legacy to offer a $60 sibling discount for our holiday camps. Mark had a deep passion for youth ministry and dedicated many voluntary hours to leading on camp and transporting campers to, from and during camp. It is therefore fitting that we use his generous gift to offer a sibling discount that effectively gives families with multiple camper’s free bus transport to and from camp.
Commitment to Child Safety
Lutheran Youth of Queensland is committed to child safety and our practices are guided by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and Queensland’s Eight Mandatory Requirements. We have zero tolerance for child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns are taken seriously and responded to according to our policies and procedures. This includes a child centered approach to responding to incidents and allegations, and the reporting of concerns, not matter how small, to the relevant authorities. We ask that you support us in this by highlighting ways that we can improve our practice and by reporting any concerns you might have to the relevant authorities
