“I’ve grown a lot with making friends with some of the leaders really helped me grow emotionally and socially. At first I was like a small scared snail but being friends with [a leader] made me slowly come out of my shell.” Senior Blast Camper 2023
Blast will run simultaneously with Junior Blast, allowing parents with multiple children of different ages to send them all along together to the same fabulous campsite with similar epic activities! Safety & Care
Safety and care are key focuses for our camps. On Blast we’ll be caring for campers by ensuring that;
- Campers enjoy professionally catered meals so that food is yummy and meets any dietary needs.
- Every leader has completed a stringent application and training process and has an active Blue Card (working with children check).
- Every camp activity is risk assessed and managed.
Blast is for everyone!
It is the perfect opportunity to have an action packed week! Every year we welcome young people on camp from a variety of backgrounds. Whilst there is a faith element to every LYQ camp, we always welcome everyone to join in. Find out more about faith at LYQ camps.
What to expect:
Blast camps are packed full of adventure activities, beach, and games. This year, campers are also able to choose between a trip to Aussie World, Bli Bli Water Park for some Aqua Park action, or Next Level High ropes. Activity selection is made during camp booking and number limits apply, so book in quickly to lock in your choice of activity… then strap in for some wild fun on Blast camps!
Where are our Summer Camps?
Each summer we run camps in the school holidays for teenagers (Grades 7 – 11) and also for younger kids (Grades 3 – 6). Each of these camps are held at our beautiful Luther Heights campsite at Coolum Beach. Whether you’re looking for some pre-Christmas fun in December or to end your holidays on a high in January there is plenty to choose from. What a perfect way to spend your summer break.
Bring your siblings!
If you have younger children who would also like to spend a week of their holidays having some epic fun, check out Junior Blast running simultaneously to Blast for Grades 3-6! You will also qualify for the ‘Family Discount’ of $60 per camper for siblings living in the same household.

Family Discount – Mark Grieshaber Legacy Fund
Available to siblings living in the same household for events in the same Holiday Season (Winter, Spring, or Summer Seasons)| $60 per camper | Apply during registration
In 2018 we were blessed to receive a generous bequest from Mark Grieshaber. Mark (Greezy) Grieshaber was an active part of the Lutheran Youth of Queensland community for over three decades until his death in late 2017. Mark involvement started as a participant at our events but mostly he was involved as a volunteer leader for our holiday camps, particularly serving as our camp bus driver. Mark’s passion to support young people meant he often attended multiple events every year and although Mark’s involvement goes beyond our archived records, we know he attended more than 130 different events! Those of us who were blessed to serve alongside Mark will remember his selfless leadership and care for others, and his passionate worship singing!
In consultation with Mark’s family, we’re thrilled to be able to use Mark’s generous legacy to offer a $60 sibling discount for our holiday camps. Mark had a deep passion for youth ministry and dedicated many voluntary hours to leading on camp and transporting campers to, from and during camp. It is therefore fitting that we use his generous gift to offer a sibling discount that effectively gives families with multiple camper’s free bus transport to and from camp.
Commitment to Child Safety
Lutheran Youth of Queensland is committed to child safety and our practices are guided by the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and Queensland’s Eight Mandatory Requirements. We have zero tolerance for child abuse, and all allegations and safety concerns are taken seriously and responded to according to our policies and procedures. This includes a child centered approach to responding to incidents and allegations, and the reporting of concerns, not matter how small, to the relevant authorities. We ask that you support us in this by highlighting ways that we can improve our practice and by reporting any concerns you might have to the relevant authorities
LYQ Camps Water Bottle: $5 (inc. GST).
